Hardwax Oils, Oil, Polyx -

What Do I Ask For?

Most days we speak to people who are discovering Osmo hard wax oil for the first time.
They want to get away from the idea of plastic and the plastic look on their timber flooring or furniture. For example we just recently spoke to people who had purchased an oil only to realise that it was more resin than an oil finish that they had applied as it turned a dreadful yellow colour with very thick plastic content.
People of an older generation will recall that oil finishes were not particularly durable and required a lot of maintenance and we can understand that people may initially be sceptical of the idea of using more natural finish when they think about durability. The facts speak for themselves. Osmo hard wax oil has been used in and around Western Australia for over 16 years now with superb results. It is used both commercially and domestically and has been praised for its unique natural appearance as well as the way in which it can be maintained.
It is the only product that we know that can be repaired without significantly darkening the area where the repair takes place. As you may know you can repair a lot of different coatings but the repair always stands out which is where Osmo has a unique advantage. It is designed with ease of maintenance and reduced ongoing cost in mind.
So what should you ask for when you want to purchase Osmo? Usually people have heard the word Polyx which is a somewhat different word. For most internal applications this is the range of products that you are looking for:  Osmo Polyx hard wax oil. The word Polyx is designed to convey the extra durability of the Osmo product which is comparable in durability to polyurethane without introducing the look of polyurethane. Many people are incredibly surprised at how durable this product is.
Osmo is applied into the timber - it is a penetrating oil. Two coats of Polyx Osmo offers a substantial level of wear and durability.
Osmo Polyx oil is available in four gloss levels and you can come and see the difference when you visit the showroom.
